2024 Texas Road Trip: Mustang Island

We made it to our destination on Mustang Island on 3/21. We were ready to get to the beach as it has been so long since our last beach stay in California. After the 4 hour drive we opened the doors to step out and it was just like the first time arriving in Hawaii and leaving the plan terminal. About 72 degrees and 80% humidity. We felt revived in just a few mins. For this part of our trip we are staying in a very nice RV park just behind the dunes so very close to the Gulf but yet very much a community.

Next up is???? BEACH!!!! Oh ya! We are not on the Washington Coast Dorthy! The water here at its coldest is 15 degrees warmer than in Washington at it warmest. So pleasant and a great way to relax... Too bad we do have to work. March is the windiest month here and yes we feel it. It is warm so there is a bit of Yin and Yang going on. Skye just loves the beach and isn't companying at all.

We had a day of work and then we could play a bit. So off of South Padre Island!!!

My oh my. Liz is up for sunrise and it was one of the best. So easy to get into a rhythm where everyday is a repeat of the previous.

Finally, a bit of the moon. Yes, it also has a lot to offer and really it is Skye's happiest time heading to the beach under moon light.

Our trip was not even close to complete until we met up with our Corpus family. Jim and Cathy welcomed us with an amazing treat to Snoopy's and another great sunset.

Oh Yes the pets are getting along just fine...

Finally, we were able to get to a bird sanctuary... Not very many birds when we were there but there was this interesting one. Looking it up online we think it is a juvenile female Great Northern Cardinal.

The week needed to end and so we moved on to Padre Island National Seashore. More on that coming soon from a bit more primitive site.
