It is really hard to balance everything that's needed to get on the road, and things don't always go as smoothly as planned! Our trip was delayed because of a water leak that moved our departure from 8am to 2pm. But really it was karma, and we think that was the time we were meant to leave. A few hours is minor compared to the 6-week trip ahead of us. This little rock in Arches National Park really says it all. Just be patient and stay balanced. Someday I might fall but don't rush it. (Note: This is Balanced Rock in Arches NP. 😊)

Our journey to Moab, Utah, began with a number of reroutes to avoid snowstorms, requiring us to travel through central Oregon (overnighted near Bend) and Nevada instead of through Idaho. We spent the second night at the Bonneville Salt Flats west of Salt Lake City. Gorgeous night with stars out and beautiful sunrise.

But wait! I'm sure you're wondering how Daisy is doing? She's doing really well. She doesn't understand why we are in the RV now and why the whole house has to keep moving but is being a very good sport. She's being a great snuggle partner and turning into a Camper Kitty!
We finally made it to Moab and settled in for 5 days of rest and hiking in Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We stayed at the Portal RV Resort in Moab, which was wonderful!
We hiked to see Sand Dune Arch and the Windows arches. North Window Arch is very large. Below this is us taking a picture of each other on opposite sides.
Delicate Arch was amazing. It was late in the day and we didn't think we had enough time or energy for the 3.5 mile hike, but it was worth every sore muscle. We got there 30 mins before sunset and were not disappointed! Highly recommended - this is a must-do in Arches!

After sunset at Delicate Arch we and some other hikers helped a scared family from new Jersey find their sons who were missing. They got separated from each other at the arch and the moms stopped on the way back down to wait for them. It was getting dark so we loaned them a flashlight and luckily one mom was able to find them after hiking back up and yelling for them. A group of us who had waited then hiked back down in the dark with them. Scary, but luckily it ended well.

We made it to Canyonlands on our last day in Moab. Can you find our RV in the photo below? That was the location of our office for the day. Can't complain about the view!

After a 2 mile hike we rushed to catch the sunset. Then as we departed, we were met with a fierce March snowstorm! You can see it moving in the background of this photo. We had a long slow drive on snow covered roads back to Moab.
Stay tuned for our upcoming travel days into Arizona, New Mexico and finally Texas!
