(This blog never was posted from last year, 2025 trip)

Three years ago, on our first RV road trip, we found Anza Borrego Desert State Park and decided that we really wanted to come back and experience it again. We weren't disappointed and enjoyed five nights of wonderful, serene quietude. This time, we traveled here with friends we met at last year's RV rally in Texas (where we traveled to see the total solar eclipse) and some other friends we met at the RV rally we attended in Oregon last fall. Each night, we had a potluck dinner and great conversation, and we all enjoyed a fun hike to Borrego Palm Canyon. What a great time we had, but we also didn't get to see any wildflowers as it had just been too dry.

We started the trip with a short overnight in Yaqui Wash Primitive Campground and yes primitive means there isn't anything other than a place to park. It was dessert beautiful but alas the wind was howling with gusts to 50 mph so the night was not as quiet as you might expect.

The next morning had an amazing sunrise.

Next was to set up for 5 nights at Anza Borrego State Park and we had a little friend stop by to help. Liz did some investigation on the little guy's capabilities and found they love to eat snakes and especially rattle snakes. So, the little prehistoric look of a Road Runner is real. Might not want to get too close.

The 5 nights moved quickly with a lot of wind, a bit or rain and a little snow but we really do enjoy the quiet little spot in the desert at

One great hike to the Oasis was amazing and to

Each day we were able to explore a bit, and even though the wildflowers did not show themselves this year, there was still plenty of beauty to find. The high desert is an amazing place and has plenty to share, but for us, February or March is the best time so the temps are perfect.

Day 4 had a bit of a wet night and snow on the surrounding mountains. We were very lucky to actually see a rainbow as we were sipping our coffee in the morning.

Beep! Beep! - That's all folks!
