We're on the road again — and this time we've got company! Tom and Andrea Trinneer, and their pup Daisy, are traveling with us in their brand-new Winnebago View, a 2027 ‘R’ model fresh off the lot, as we make our way down the West Coast toward the Cher'ere Campground & RV Park in Klamath, CA for the 2026 West Coast View/Navion Rally.
We're doing our first two nights in one of our favorite ways — through Harvest Hosts, the program that lets RVers park overnight at wineries, farms, and small businesses in exchange for supporting them. Night one was at Elysium Botanicals Wines & Vineyard in Independence, Oregon, tucked right in among the vines. We enjoyed wine tasting and a local hard rock band!
From there we rolled on down to our second Harvest Hosts stop: Bennett Vineyards & Wine Company in Cheshire, Oregon, in the southern Willamette Valley, where we’ve stayed before. Both rigs found a spot to settle in for the night.
We enjoyed a nice afternoon listening to a local music group, and enjoying a glass of wine, good company, and food from a delicious food truck.
From there we made our way to Ashland, Oregon, for two nights, where we enjoyed two shows at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Allen Elizabethan Theatre: The Taming of the Shrew and Henry IV Part One. Taming of the Shrew was fantastic and Henry IV was great but a little confusing. 😉 We had fun shopping and spending time in one of our favorite towns!
Next was Crescent City, CA, for three nights at Ramblin' Redwoods Campground & RV Park, tucked near Redwood National and State Parks and just a short drive from the Northern California coast. There we met up with several other groups of fellow View/Navion travelers from Washington and Oregon for a “pre-rally” get together! We spent a little time at the beach and had a fun group dinner at SeaQuake Brewing!
We started heading south to Cher'ere Campground & RV Park in Klamath where we would be arriving a day early, giving us a chance to settle in before the rally officially kicked off. But on the way we really needed to finally stop at the Trees of Mystery which is a few miles north of Klamath, CA. This is the touristy spot by the side of the road that most of had skipped in the past – we’d all seen the giant statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, said "Tourist Trap!" and kept driving! Some of us heard that it was actually worth a stop so we all decided to go! All 7 RVs in our group pulled in and we actually picked up the 8th View with more friends from previous rallies.
The Rally Begins
Monday afternoon everyone rolled in and got settled in their sites. In total we have 41 RVs coming from as far away as Tennessee, Reno, south of LA and all the way to Lynden, WA. It was a great turnout. We gathered that evening for a welcome BBQ and a big group photo — always a fun way to kick off a week of seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Clint was busy as rally co-chair (along with Terri Mueller) and Liz had her hands full leading the rally meals and potlucks.
Tuesday was a slower day, with coffee, catching up with neighbors and Andrea’s time to lead the crafting hour which stretched on all morning. Liz got some birding walks in and added a few new “Lifers” to her list!
Wednesday afternoon a large group of rally attendees drove down to the Prairie Creek Visitor Center and went on the Big Tree hike. It was beautiful, winding through a couple of miles of massive old-growth redwoods. It was really awe-inspiring, thinking of these trees that have been on earth for up to 2,000 years. Several of us are unapologetic tree-huggers!
Thursday morning it was coffee, goodbyes, and packing up — checkout was at 11, and just like that, another rally was behind us.
Heading Up the Coast
From Cher'ere we turned north for the drive home, tracing the California and Oregon coastline. Liz found out she had a few more days before flying to Europe so instead of heading straight back to I-5, we texted to see where the Trinneers were spending the night. They found an amazing spot at Bay Point Landing in Coos Bay, Oregon, where we joined them. We had a delicious dinner at Wildflour restaurant in North Bend, near Coos Bay.
Friday was a long drive home and we arrived just before 8pm. A nice ending to another wonderful RV camping trip!
