Travel Day. LA!!

We started the day with Liz on the third day of a head cold. Not expecting much as we really just wanted to get to our next 4 day stay on the Central Coast but wow were we in for a mini adventure that was totally unexpected. We decided to meet up with Liz's work colleague Anthony who lives in West LA. It was 1.5 hours to downtown LA from Temecula. Pulling the CRV, we arrived at the Culver City Costco to leave the RV and explore. Anthony and his partner Leslie met us there and the fun began.

They first took us to an outdoor food venue called Smorgasburg in downtown LA full of food trucks and local restaurant vendors from the neighborhood. There's one in several other major cities around the country, set up to support local businesses and revitalize city neighborhoods. We had a fabulous lunch of all kinds of ethnic foods. From Costco to Smorgasburg! Yum!!

From Smorgasburg it was a whirlwind tour of LA on a Sunday. Anthony and Leslie gave us a grand tour of some of the big sites like the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, Pacific Palisades, the Getty, etc. while keeping to our tight schedule. We ended in Santa Monica (end of Rt. 66) with beautiful beach views and wind in our hair.

Alas, we needed to get to our site for the night in San Simeon, so we bid farewell to our new friends. We are so grateful they wanted to show us around and spend much of the day with us! Very fun, and we got to see and experience a snapshot of LA we never would have see on our own.

Luckily we found a great sunset on the way just outside of Santa Barbara.

And yes Skye was able to have a snack during the sunset. Peace to all. What a day!
